Factory reset
How to reset your robot to factory settings.
Factory reset
A factory reset deletes all saved maps, schedules, Wi-Fi settings and preferences. Only perform it if other troubleshooting steps haven't helped or you want to pass the robot on to someone else.
Important before resetting
- All saved room maps and cleaning preferences will be lost.
- You'll need to set up the robot again via the app afterwards.
- The robot will be removed from your iRobot account – you'll need to add it again.
Instructions by model
Roomba 100/200/400/500/700 series (new), j-series, Plus 405, Plus 406, Plus 505, Max 705
- Press the CLEAN button (☆) for 5 seconds.
- Within 5 seconds, press ☆ + the Dock button (⌂) simultaneously for 5 seconds.
- The robot plays a confirmation tone and restarts.
Roomba i1, i3, i5, i6, i7, i8, s9
- Hold the CLEAN button for 20 seconds.
- When the light ring spins clockwise, release the button.
- The robot restarts and is reset to factory settings.
Roomba 900 series, e5, e6
- Hold the CLEAN button for 10 seconds until all indicators light up.
- Release the button – a tone confirms the restart.
- Note: For the 900 series and e-series this is a soft reset. For a full factory reset, use the iRobot HOME App under Settings → Remove robot.
Roomba 600 series, 680, 800 series
- Hold the CLEAN button for 10 seconds.
- The robot plays a tone and restarts.
- Note: Models without Wi-Fi have no mapping or app connection – a restart is sufficient in most cases.
Roomba Combo (without Wi-Fi)
- Hold the CLEAN button until the robot plays a tone and restarts.
Braava 300 series
- Hold the POWER button to turn the Braava off.
- Spin both wheels vigorously for 15 seconds.
- Turn the Braava back on.
Braava Jet 250
- Hold CLEAN for 5 seconds until a tone sounds.
- Remove the battery and reinsert it.
- Press CLEAN to turn the robot back on.
Braava Jet m-series
- Hold the CLEAN button for 20 seconds.
- The light ring spins – the robot is reset to factory settings.
- Set up the robot again via the app afterwards.
After the reset
- Download the Roomba® Home App (if not already installed).
- Add the robot as a new device.
- Connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
- Start a mapping run (for models with mapping).
