My robot won't charge – fixing charging problems
Common causes and solutions when your robot won't charge.
Robot won't charge – fixing charging problems
If your robot is sitting on the dock but won't charge, there are several possible causes.
1. Check power supply
- Make sure the dock (Home Base, Clean Base or AutoWash™ Dock) is connected to a working power outlet.
- Check whether the LED on the dock is lit.
- Only use the supplied power adapter. Third-party adapters can cause charging problems.
2. Clean charging contacts
- Clean the metal charging contacts on the underside of the robot and on the dock with a dry, lint-free cloth.
- Remove dust, dirt or residue from the contacts.
3. Correct positioning
- Home Base / Clean Base: Push the robot backwards onto the dock until the charging contacts click into place.
- AutoWash™ Dock (Plus 405, Plus 505, Max 705): Push the robot forwards onto the dock until the charging contacts are level.
- Make sure the robot is straight and not crooked on the dock.
4. LED indicators while charging
5. Check the battery
- If the robot only runs for a few minutes despite a full charge, the battery may be worn out.
- iRobot lithium-ion batteries typically last 1–3 years depending on usage.
- Only replace the battery with a genuine iRobot replacement battery.
6. Braava-specific notes
- Braava 300 series: If all NSI and button lights flash with beeps during charging, an incompatible adapter was used. Only use the supplied adapter.
- Braava Jet 250: Charge the robot via the Micro-USB port or charging cradle. Check the cable for damage.
