Room-specific cleaning and keep-out zones

How to clean specific rooms and block areas in the app.

Room-specific cleaning and keep-out zones

With a saved Imprint® Smart Map, you can clean individual rooms on demand and block certain areas. This feature is only available on models with mapping.

Supported models

  • Roomba 105, 205, Plus 405, Plus 505, Max 705
  • i series: i3, i5, i6, i7
  • j series: j7, j9 and Combo variants
  • s9
  • Combo i8

Not supported: Roomba 600, 800, 900 series, e5, e6, 680, i1, Braava Jet 250, Braava 300 series.

Clean individual rooms

  1. Open the Roomba® Home app.
  2. Select the saved map.
  3. Tap the rooms you want cleaned.
  4. Start cleaning. The robot goes directly to the selected rooms.

Keep-Out Zones

Keep-Out Zones prevent the robot from entering certain areas.

  1. Open the map in the app.
  2. Tap "Edit Keep-Out Zones".
  3. Draw a rectangle around the area the robot should avoid.
  4. Save the zone. It applies to all future cleaning jobs.

Tip: You can create multiple Keep-Out Zones per map – e.g. around pet bowls, cables or delicate furniture.

Clean Zones (targeted area cleaning)

On selected models (j series, new generation), you can also define Clean Zones in the app – small areas within a room to be cleaned on demand.

Notes

  • The map must be fully created before you can assign rooms and zones.
  • If you rearrange furniture or change walls, it's recommended to update or reset the map.
  • For models without Smart Map, you can use physical boundaries such as Virtual Wall® Barriers or Dual Mode Virtual Wall® (sold separately).
