Safely Remove and Dispose of the Battery – Step by Step
How to safely remove and dispose of your robot's battery.
Safely Remove and Dispose of the Battery
The battery in your iRobot robot is a lithium-ion battery (in newer models) or a NiMH battery (in older models). Neither type may be disposed of with household waste.
Safety Instructions
- Switch off the robot before removing the battery.
- Do not continue to use a damaged, swollen or overheated battery – take it to a collection point immediately.
- Do not short-circuit the battery terminals (e.g. with metal objects).
- Do not attempt to open, puncture or throw the battery into fire.
- Cover the terminals with adhesive tape before disposal to prevent short circuits.
