Dispose of Your Robot Properly

Your iRobot robot contains electronic components and a battery. It must therefore not be disposed of with normal household waste. In Switzerland, the ORDEA (Ordinance on the Return, Take-Back and Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment) applies, in line with the European WEEE directive.

Why Is Proper Disposal Important?

  • Electronic devices contain valuable raw materials (copper, rare earths) that can be recycled.
  • Batteries and certain components contain harmful substances that can pollute the environment if disposed of incorrectly.
  • Proper disposal is required by law in Switzerland.

Where Can You Dispose of Your Robot?

  • Retail outlets: Every shop that sells electrical devices is obliged to take back old devices of the same type free of charge – even without a new purchase.
  • Collection points: Municipal or regional collection points (e.g. recycling centres) accept electrical devices free of charge.
  • SENS eRecycling / SWICO: The official Swiss recycling organisations operate a nationwide collection network. More info at www.erecycling.ch.

Before Disposal

  • Remove the battery: Remove the battery before disposal if possible (see article "Safely Remove and Dispose of the Battery"). For models with a built-in battery, the collection point handles the separation.
  • Delete personal data: Reset the robot to factory settings (see article "Reset to Factory Settings") to delete saved maps and Wi-Fi data.
  • Remove device from app: Remove the robot from your iRobot HOME App account.

Labelling

The crossed-out wheelie bin symbol on your device or packaging indicates that the device must not be disposed of with household waste.

Applies to: All iRobot Roomba series (100, 200, 600, 700, 800, 900, e, i, j, s, Combo), Braava Jet 250, Braava Jet m series, Braava 300 series and all docks (Home Base, Clean Base, AutoEmpty™ Dock, AutoWash™ Dock).
