Fixing mopping problems
If your robot doesn't mop properly, leaves water marks or the mopping function doesn't start, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Check the mopping pad or roller
- Roomba Combo (all models): Check that the mopping pad is correctly inserted. It should click into place.
- Braava 300 series: Check that the cleaning cloth is properly attached to the cleaning plate.
- Braava Jet 250: Make sure the disposable or reusable mopping pad is correctly inserted.
- Braava Jet m series: Check that the mopping pad is properly attached and moist enough.
- Replace heavily soiled or worn mopping pads with new ones.
Step 2: Check the water tank
- Make sure the robot's water tank is filled (for Combo models and Braava Jet).
- Check that the tank is correctly inserted and seals properly.
- Use only clean water – no cleaning agents unless expressly approved by the manufacturer.
Step 3: Check the AutoWash™ Dock (if applicable)
- Applies to: Plus 405, Plus 406, Plus 505, Max 705.
- Check that the clean water tank in the dock is filled and the dirty water tank is emptied.
- Clean the wash roller in the dock regularly.
- Make sure the dock is properly connected to the power supply.
Step 4: Check the mopping mode
- In the iRobot HOME app, make sure the mopping mode is enabled (wet or dry).
- For Combo models: check whether the robot automatically detects mopping mode when the pad is inserted.
- Adjust the moisture level in the app (low, medium, high), if available.
Step 5: Prepare the floor
- Remove loose objects and coarse debris before mopping.
- On very smooth floors, it may help to run the vacuuming mode first and then mop.
