AutoEmpty™, AutoWash™ and Clean Base – troubleshooting
If your dock doesn't automatically empty the robot, doesn't clean the mopping pad, or displays error messages, follow this guide.
Step 1: Check dock connection
- Make sure the dock is connected to the power supply and the LED indicator is lit.
- Check that the robot is correctly seated on the dock and the charging contacts are aligned.
- Clean the charging contacts on the dock and the robot with a dry cloth.
Step 2: AutoEmpty™ / Clean Base – emptying doesn't work
- Applies to: Roomba i3, i5, i6, i7, s9, j series (with Clean Base), 105 + AutoEmpty™ Dock.
- Check whether the bag in the dock is full. Replace it with a new original iRobot bag.
- Clean the suction channel: remove the bag and check whether the channel between dock and robot is blocked.
- Make sure the robot's dustbin is correctly inserted.
- Check that the emptying port on the underside of the robot is free of debris.
Step 3: AutoWash™ Dock – washing doesn't work
- Applies to: Plus 405, Plus 406, Plus 505, Max 705.
- Check that the clean water tank is filled.
- Empty the dirty water tank and clean it.
- Clean the wash roller in the dock – remove hair and deposits.
- Check that the mopping pad is properly attached to the robot before it returns to the dock.
- Make sure the drying function is not disrupted by blockages.
Step 4: Check dock LED indicators
- If the dock LED flashes red or orange, this indicates an error. See article 5.5 (Error messages) for details.
- Unplug the dock for 30 seconds and plug it back in to restart it.
