What is the Clean Base™ Automatic Dirt Disposal?

The Clean Base™ automatically empties your Roomba's dustbin – for weeks of cleaning without manual intervention.

What is the Clean Base™?

The Clean Base™ Automatic Dirt Disposal is an advanced charging station for select Roomba models. It automatically empties your robot's dustbin into a sealed bag after each cleaning. This means you don't have to manually empty the dustbin after every use.

How does automatic emptying work?

  • After completing a cleaning job, your Roomba automatically returns to the Clean Base.
  • The dirt disposal station detects that the dustbin is full and automatically vacuums the dirt into the AllergenLock™ bag (or Clean Base bag, depending on the model).
  • If a clog is detected, the Clean Base makes additional attempts to resolve it automatically.
  • Note: If you manually place the robot on the dirt disposal station, no automatic emptying will occur. In this case, use the iRobot HOME App or press and hold the CLEAN button for 2-5 seconds.

Proper Clean Base positioning

  • Clearance above: at least 0.3 m
  • Clearance on both sides: at least 0.5 m
  • Clearance in front: at least 1.2 m
  • Distance from stairs: at least 1.2 m
  • Wi-Fi: Ensure the Clean Base has good Wi-Fi coverage.
  • Sunlight: Do not expose the Clean Base to direct sunlight.

LED indicator

The LED indicator on the Clean Base lights up red when the bag is full and needs to be replaced.

Bag replacement

  1. Open the Clean Base lid.
  2. Pull the full bag upward to remove it. The bag closes automatically.
  3. Insert a new genuine bag and close the lid.

Tip: Always use genuine iRobot bags to ensure optimal vacuum performance and hygiene.
